Amman - The Deanship of Student Affairs and the Faculty of Pharmacy at Middle East University organized a lecture entitled "Why Do not I Smoke?" presented by the Cardiologist Dr. Ayman Hamouda. During the lecture, Dr. Hamouda talked about the dangers of smoking and its consequences on health and human life.
The lecture was attended by students and university staff. It dealt with negative effects of smoking. The lecturer provided real stories about the deadly effects of smoking and stressed the role of the University in combating smoking through spreading awareness among students.
In his turn, Dr. Nashwan Nashwan the Vice Dean of Student Affairs confirmed that Middle East University is committed to conducting such extracurricular activities to spread awareness among its students about scientific and health issues.
It is worth mentioning that Middle East University adopts a set of strategies to promote healthy practices on campus such as quitting smoking.
The Middle East University was founded in 2005 as a Graduate Studies University with twelve specializations. Towards the beginning of the academic year 2008-2009 the university opened twenty specializations for both Graduate and Undergraduate students with the ongoing growth in staff and students.
